Summer Solstice Guide 2026

Brades Acre is proud to share that on Sunday, 21st June 2026, the Summer Solstice dawns as sunlight crowns the Heel Stone at the legendary ancient monument, Stonehenge. This breathtaking celestial moment heralds the longest day of the year and has stirred profound spiritual wonder in the hearts of people for thousands of years.

Ever since Stonehenge was built around 2600 BC, crowds have shown up to watch the sun line up perfectly with those enormous stones. And honestly, it was never really about the sunrise itself it was about feeling part of something ancient, something that mattered long before you existed. That keeps drawing people back, generation after generation. Standing there today, most visitors are surprised to find they feel it too!

As an English Heritage certified campsite for Stonehenge, we have been proud to welcome Summer Solstice sunrise seekers for many years. There is something truly special about gathering here with fellow travellers, all sharing the same sense of wonder as dawn breaks over the ancient stones. We make sure your stay is comfortable and well looked after, so you arrive at the moment that matters feeling rested and ready. Be part of our community and a tradition stretching back millennia.

Can I Visit Stonehenge for the Summer Solstice?

From the evening of Saturday 20th June, Stonehenge will open its ancient grounds, offering a rare and remarkable chance for all visitors to mark this most celebrated time of year at one of humanity’s greatest and most enduring prehistoric monuments.

Admission to the Stonehenge field is free, so visitors can gather and enjoy the special atmosphere at sunrise on the longest day of the year. To keep things running safely and efficiently for all, English Heritage asks anyone driving to the site to pre-book a parking space. Pre-booking allows them to manage on-site capacity effectively and reduce the risk of traffic build-up in the area around Stonehenge. More information about parking and the general rules of the Solstice at Stonehenge can be found here.

If you’re planning to drive, please book your space through English Heritage before you travel to avoid missing out. Together, we can ensure the celebration is enjoyable and safe for everybody.

There is also dedicated information on safety facilities and welfare, what and what not to bring, travelling to Stonehenge, disabled access and how to respect the stones here. For people who wish to observe the sunrise at Stonehenge but cannot make it to the site, English Heritage offers a 24/7 live stream from the middle of the stones, which can be viewed on the English Heritage YouTube Channel and Facebook page.
