Quick Guide to Larkhill
The intimate town of Larkhill, just up the road from us here at Brades Acre Touring Park, is rich with neolithic and military history. Larkhill lies around 1 ½ miles north of the wonder of the world, the Stonehenge monument. It’s a great visit for military history enthusiasts and lovers of the countryside.
Larkhill is known for being one of the main military garrisons on Salisbury Plain, with the first permanent accommodation being built in 1914. However, Larkhill will be best known as being the home of the Royal School of Artillery, established in the early 20th century. It is known less formally as ‘The Gunners.’ Comic book and film fans will also know Larkhill as being the fictional prison in ‘V for Vendetta.’
We’ve put together this quick guide to help visitors get about in Larkhill during your stay with us at Brades Acre Touring Park, just around a 13-minute drive from the campsite.
