Christmas at Salisbury Cathedral
Head over to see the magnificent Christmas tree that dominates the west end of the Cathedral and small groups can pre-book a twilight tower tour. Climb the 332 steps to experience stunning views across the city, decked with festive lights. Christmas wouldn’t be the same without hearing the Cathedral’s world-class choir and readings, plus the chance to join in and sing some much-loved carols. Christmas on the Square
Salisbury City Council and Mynt Image Ltd are joining up to hold a brand-new Gift Fayre in Salisbury’s Guildhall Square this year. As part of Christmas on the Square in 2024, visitors to Salisbury can expect a unique shopping experience in a giant, fully festive chalet. The chalet will feature over 30 incredible local craftspeople offering artisan products that will make the perfect gifts for loved ones this Christmas. The Gift Fayre will be the perfect place to soak up a magical festive atmosphere and support local makers under shelter, protecting them from the wintery elements. Read more here
St Thomas's Christmas Tree Festival
The St Thomas’s Christmas Tree Festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year! This beloved event. With more trees and a record number of musicians, this year’s festival is sure to be an unforgettable Christmas experience. The festival opens on Tuesday, December 3rd and runs through to Sunday, December 8th.
This year, you can expect to see around 100 decorated trees and nativity scenes, all submitted by local organizations and individuals to raise money for Christians Against Poverty and Morning Star Salisbury. The superbly decorated trees, choirs, soloists, and bands evoke the true feeling of Christmas adding to the magic of the occasion. This year’s festival is a visual and auditory celebration of all that is best about Christmas. Read more here
A Fairytale Christmas at Mompesson House
This 2024, fairy tales will come alive at Mompesson House as we take you back in time for a magical Victorian Christmas. Mompesson will be open upstairs and downstairs for Christmas. Fairytales meet a Victorian Christmas in this immersive storytelling experience, perfect for both the young and the young at heart.
Discover the three bears’ Christmas feast, follow Hansel’s trail to the tea-room and listen to some fairy tales in the Library. Throughout Christmas we’ll have a free activity sheet to keep little minds occupied. Read more here
